Patagonia's Synchilla Vest is a basic but highly useful supplemental piece of insulation. The synchilla vest is lightweight, snug-fitting, and comfortable, and fits under practically jacket or coat, and over most shirts or pullovers. It can be worn by itself over a shirt or t-shirt in slightly cool conditions. It works in any environment from the office to the yard to the outback. Its lightweight and compressibility means it can be stuffed anywhere in gear and pulled out when needed. In Alaska, it is considered acceptable office wear (provided of course that it is coordinated with your shirt).
